Kim Free

Kim Free is a violinist and songwriter from Los Angeles. Born and raised in LA, Kim has spent her life in the classical and punk rock communities of LA. Kim grew up playing violin, and began writing her own songs early on, inspired by her immersion in music as a DJ on local indie rock station KXLU 88.9 FM and working at Amoeba Records in Hollywood. Kim has released three full length albums since her first album Angel Shadow in 2012, a solo album that Kim played every instrument on. Kim has also recorded with Zola Jesus, Lavender Diamond, and Devon Williams, and was a touring violinist with Zola Jesus from 2012-2014. Her new EP Sister Mercury was recorded with her longtime collaborators Allen Bleyle and Brian Hill, and features acclaimed guitarist John M.F. Anderson.
